Veteran designed public art

The mission of Operation Valor Arts, a 501c3 non-profit organization, is to provide Veterans with training and resources to enable them to design interpretive public art.

 

Forest Hills Veteran Housing Public Art

Later in  2024, In the Shade of Service, an 18ft high Corten steel and stainless steel Veteran- designed sculpture will be installed at 1844 Ardmore Boulevard in Forest Hills, an eastern suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The Lawrenceville Doughboy Status, a larger-than-life size bronze statue depicting a WWI soldier. Location: Pittsburgh PA

Paradigm Shift - Veteran Artist vs Civilian Artist?

As history demonstrates, it is civilian artists who are usually commissioned to create military- related public art. Operation Valor Arts believes when Veteran artists use their own experiences to inform their creative process, public art can take on added depth.
